1) I know who you are and what you do but would you be kind enough to introduce yourself?
My name is Donnie Lansdale. I
am a retired radio announcer and talk show host. I live and work in Casa
Grande, Arizona. I currently host two popular weekly podcasts, Everyday
Monsters and Everyday Authors. Both podcast support and promote short story writers
and authors worldwide. I also provide audiobook narration for Audible.com
2) What’s the most exciting thing in your job?
Honestly, helping writers and authors by narrating
their short stories. I provide a free service for the narration, and the joy
comes from the results of the writers and authors hearing their words, some for
the very first time. A great story is always enhanced by a great storyteller.
3) Tell us about the podcasts!
Both podcasts serve the same purpose which is providing
an opportunity for writers and authors to showcase their short story to
millions of potential podcast listeners worldwide. Not only does it promote and
support, but it actually encourages them to continue. The submission process of
their short story is seamless on our website, and each submission is considered
for a personalized episode. All episodes are professionally narrated, approved
(for accuracy) and scheduled for production and air date. The episode is
available on every podcast application worldwide.
4) What’s your opinion about writers and the publishing industry?
Writers are looking to get noticed, authors are
looking to get sales. I belong to several crowded Facebook groups where (in
most cases) constant posting and re-posting becomes frustrating. Add in the
growing number of spam from publishers, editors, marketing... and it’s like
trying to find space on a crowded elevator going nowhere.
I recently started my own group on Facebook (Everyday
Authors Support Group) that not only supports writers and authors, but gives
each one that opportunity to have potentially millions of listeners worldwide
to hear their story and about them.
5) What makes you say “Yes!” when you are going
through submissions?
With Everyday Monsters, weaving a story in this genre is tricky. I love less
gore and watch for a surprise twist. A Twilight Zone - Like story would be a
great example. I love a story that hooks you early, and leads you believing you
are a part of that story. My narration of the story is critical for reaching
best results if I get immersed and involved as the reader.
6) Where can talented authors find you?

will find a link for either Everyday Monsters, but also Everyday Authors. The
website provides bios and photos of contributing writers and authors, a recent
(full-length) Featured Episode, and an episode schedule for both podcasts.

7) Could you tell us a few of your favorite authors?
Erik Larson comes to mind (Devil in the White City,
Dead Wake, In the Garden of Beasts).
I love motivational authors and speakers.
8) Could you mention a book you will never forget?
Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. His ability to
build a story around actual events and seamlessly move in and out creates a
reality that entertains and educates.

10) Could you tell us a few things about your future plans?
I want to continue with the podcasts and at the same
time alert authors that I can provide a professional narration
service through Audible.com should they wish to add an audiobook to their repertoire.
